Undergraduate Engineers

Paid Student Placement Program

At Bornhorst + Ward, we offer exciting opportunities for both undergraduates and graduates to kickstart their engineering careers.

As an undergraduate, you’ll have the chance to work with us over the summer holiday period for up to two months. During this time, you’ll be paired with a mentor who will help you develop civil or structural design skills, enhance your communication abilities, and master essential design software. This paid program provides real-world experience and contributes to core competencies, and many of our top students continue with us in casual roles while completing their degrees, gaining valuable experience that complements their academic work.

Graduate Engineers

Graduate Program

For graduates, you’ll be entrusted with responsibility on a variety of projects that shape the future of Queensland. You’ll receive guidance from an experienced mentor during your first few years, developing your skills and expertise across diverse and impactful projects. Many of our graduate positions are filled by former undergraduates, but we’re always open to applications from passionate engineers eager to grow with us.

Drafters + Designers

Cadet Drafting Program

Bornhorst + Ward’s Cadet Program welcomes aspiring drafters at all stages of life, whether you're a recent school leaver or pursuing a career change. Each year, we hire cadets into our Civil and Structural departments who are enrolled or preparing to enroll in the Associate Degree program at TAFE Queensland. As a cadet, you’ll gain hands-on experience working on real-world projects, guided by supportive mentors and team members, and receive some of the best training available in Brisbane. With a strong focus on growth, most of our cadets advance to full-time drafter roles and build lasting careers with us. If you have a willingness to learn and an eye for detail, we’d love to hear from you.
