PROJECT SUMMARY

As part of the Queensland Government's Capacity Expansion Program, the Logan Hospital Expansion Stage 2 delivered 112 additional beds, significantly enhancing healthcare capacity for the Logan community.
Bornhorst + Ward provided comprehensive structural and civil engineering services for this $530 million project. Collaborating with the John Holland Group under a two-stage Managing Contractor model, we contributed to the successful delivery of this critical healthcare infrastructure.

Key Engineering Details

B+W have worked closely with JHG and their subcontractors to optimise the design to the current construction market to ensure that budgets and programs are maintained. The use of flat plate post tensioned floor plates, with full detailed design carried out by Bornhorst and Ward was key to achieving this outcome. Furthermore, The building 4 structure is designed to enable hospital to remain operational after significant natural disasters, including storms and cyclones, floods and earthquakes. Careful consideration has been given in the structural design and detailing to ensue this performance following such disasters.
